Words of Wisdom
If you scan the internet for information or advice on writing short stories, you will very quickly encounter dire warnings from mostly well-meaning people. They will say that writing stories is much more difficult than writing novels. Stories need to be artistic and finely tuned like a luxury Italian sports car.
While those warnings do have some validity, I believe that they are far too negative in tone. Short stories are not as difficult to write as the naysayers would have you believe. And besides, how else would anyone ever learn to write great stories without practicing a lot. That's why these pages of story prompts are here.
To that end, I'd like to leave you with some words of wisdom from one of the all time great writers of short stories.
Here's a video from 2001 where Ray Bradbury talks about his life as a writer. It includes some great advice that we can all benefit from.
Take Ray's wisdom to heart as you add the creative writing story prompts listed here into your own writing schedule.
